Day Tactical Carbine/Rifle
Course ~ This is the same rifle
course taught to law enforcement ~ $300 per person
7:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Skill
Level: Basic to Intermediate Prerequisite: Basic Handgun Safety Course is
required.  | The
AR-15, Colt Sporter, Mini 14, MI's SKS, FN/FAL, Marlin/Winchester/Henry lever
guns and other similar rifles make excellent short-range defensive firearms. This
is why the Certified Instructors from Oregon Firearms Academy have taken their
professional training & law enforcement experience and put together a defensive
rifle course specially designed for the AR15, its variants, and other similar
semiautomatic rifles. The intent of this course is to learn how to use a rifle
in close range, high speed defensive situations. | |
You will learn:
- How to correctly "sight-in" your rifle - we will sight
in all rifles
- The various methods of carry/sling positions

Administrative procedures - the correct process for loading, unloading, &
firearm readiness
- Basic tactical procedures - combat reload, tactical
reload, & reducing stoppages
- How to assume rapid shooting positions
such as offhand, prone, & kneeling
- Various tactical exercises including
contact distance out to 25 yards
- How to move to the rear and laterally
while shooting the rifle in self-defense
- Shooting and operating from grounded
positions
- Learning how to operate the carbine/rifle single handed in the
event of a immobilize or injured limb (arm or hand)
- How to assume various
shooting positions using cover & concealment
- How to transition to
a handgun gun if your carbine/rifle become inoperable
- Using a carbine/rifle
within confided spaces such as a home or building including operating a carbine/rifle
in a tactical simulator

 | Equipment
Necessary: - Semiautomatic, magazine fed, iron sighted
carbine/rifle or lever action type carbine/rifle with a sling (low power or "red
dot" optics are acceptable) - Call if you're
concerned about your rifle or you want to use something else! We
can work it out!
- 1200 rounds of SAAMI/Mil Spec factory
new ammunition
(Absolutely no reloads except those by Black Hills) (Steel
case ammo is not recommended unless using it in a firearm designed for it such
as a SKS or AK. Steel cased ammo is not manufactured to SAAMI/MIl Spec requirements)
- At least three (3) rifle magazines
- A sling is required on all
rifles/carbines
- A handgun, 50 rounds of ammo & belt holster

Hearing protection
- ANSI/OSHA wrap around Safety Glasses (available in
the OFA Pro Shop)
- Ball cap with bill
- Lunch, beverage,
and dress for outdoors
- Bottled water, sunscreen, & rainwear
(its Oregon!)
- Knee pads/elbow pads - not required but are helpful
during kneeling & grounded drills in the gravel
- Long legged pants
with amble pockets to carry loose rounds of ammo and/or spare magazines/speedloaders

Sturdy boots/shoes & dress appropriately for the time of the year and activity
level
- Lunch, snacks, and drinks for the day (bring lots of water because
you'll need it!)
- Cleaning & maintenance supplies for your carbine/rifle/handgun

and then complete the form entirely. Third,
mail us the registration form along with a check or money order in the amount
of $250 made payable to Oregon Firearms Academy LLC. LE agency or military
checks are accepted! Please include in the envelope a photocopy, both sides, of
your current CHL, LE, Corrections, or Armed Security DPSST ID card. See registration

once we receive your payment, completed registration form and credentials we'll
mail back to you a written confirmation indicating you are paid-in-full and enrolled
